Hurricane Harvey Help

HURRICANE HARVEY HELP

While we had an incredibly successful Ann Richards Dinner Saturday night, our thoughts and hearts were with our fellow Texans in the path of Harvey.  We all know the complete devastation the Texas Gulf coast is facing right now.

We know you’re a Friendly Neighborhood Democrat and want to help. We’ve compiled a list of good places to put your effort:

Naturally, everyone first thinks of the Red Cross.  You can text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10, or go online at redcross.org. Or call them at 1-800-REDCROSS.

Salvation Army: Text STORM to 51555; helpsalvationarmy.org 1-800-SAL-ARMY

The Houston Mayor has started a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund that will be administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.  More information can be found here.

The TDP has compiled a list of Harvey Resources here.

Texas Monthly has compiled a great list of ways to help Harvey victims based              more on your specific interests.

We understand that Dallas County is opening a shelter than can house up to 5,000 people. Need may be closer to home soon. Need will also be ongoing for some time.  We’ll keep you advised as we know of activities.
