#NOMANDATE March at the Collin County Courthouse Inauguration Day
We will be marching around the grounds of the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney during the Presidential Inauguration this next Friday, January 20. President-elect Trump and the new Republican Congress have been acting and talking as if they have a mandate, and we will be marching to remind them and our fellow citizens that they don’t. The majority of voters this past November 8 voted for a Democratic agenda. We will be marching to remind everyone of that agenda.
Bring your own signs and banners with a message about the national and state issues that we as Democrats stand for. Be creative, but be positive! Suggestions include:
- Protect voting rights
- Protect Women’s rights
- Healthcare for all
- Protect the environment
- Fully fund public education
- Fix Child Protective Services
- Free public highways for all – No more toll roads
Please, NO signs conveying anything questioning the legitimacy of the election or Mr. Trump holding the office. No #NOTMYPRESIDENT signs. The purpose of this march is to remind people of our priorities in a positive manner and petition our government to heed our concerns. We don’t want to be seen as a bunch of sore losers.
- 10:30 AM, Friday, January 20
- Southwest corner of the Courthouse at 2100 Bloomdale Rd., McKinney, TX 75071
We will start marching at 10:45 AM, and expect to disperse by 11:45 AM.
If you can take part of the morning off, take an early lunch, or are retired or flexible in your work schedule, please join us if at all possible. Many groups are planning events on Saturday, and some are on Friday evening. So far as we know we’re the only ones planning on anything during the Inauguration, and for that reason we expect to get more visibility. Let’s make a good showing.
